On December 3, 2021, Twitter, Inc. filed a Form 8-K (earliest event reported December 3, 2021). Item 8.01 states that CEO Parag Agrawal was restructuring leadership “to drive increased accountability, speed, and operational efficiency,” shifting to a General Manager model for Consumer, Revenue, and Core Tech “which will be led by Kayvon Beykpour, Bruce Falck, and Nick Caldwell, respectively,” with those GMs to “lead all core teams across engineering, product management, design, and research.” Lindsey Iannucci joined as Chief of Staff and Vice President of Operations. Same item: “As part of these changes, Dantley Davis, Design and Research Lead, will also be stepping down from his position at the Company effective December 31, 2021, and will remain an advisor through the end of the first quarter of 2022 to ensure an orderly transition.” Item 5.02 names Michael Montano, Engineering Lead, on the same step-down/advisor schedule. The filing does not say “fired,” “for cause,” or “chief design officer.” Public pages elsewhere styled him CDO or VP of design — title variance is documented; this file prefers the 8-K title for the SEC-filed exit. ArtCenter College of Design published “Welcomes New Trustees,” stating that Nike digital product design leader Dantley Davis and Penske operations and finance executive Paul Rainey began their roles on the Board as of October 27, 2023. The college bio on that page states Davis “is currently the global vice president of digital design at Nike, where his team is responsible for Nike’s commerce, retail and fitness apps,” and that prior to Nike he led design teams at Twitter, Meta, Netflix and PayPal, with BS and MBA credentials from the University of San Francisco. President Karen Hofmann and Board chairman Michael M. Warsaw are quoted welcoming the pair. This is institutional college news naming him a trustee. It is not a court. It is not an SEC filing about Nike.

On April 14, 2022, Fast Company’s Mark Wilson reported that Nike had hired Dantley Davis as vice president of digital design, that Davis announced the role on Twitter that day, and that “Nike has since confirmed his hire.” The piece recapped his Twitter tenure and used Fast Company’s own verbs about workplace accusations and being “let go in a reorg” — those recap verbs are outlet packaging, not the 8-K’s “stepping down.” No Nike Form 8-K naming Davis was located this rebuild. Later, ArtCenter’s November 2023 college bio independently restates him as Nike’s global vice president of digital design. Record the announcement and the college restatement. Do not invent a Nike securities filing.

Figma Config 2021 listed Dantley Davis as “Chief Design Officer at Twitter,” leading design and research. The speaker page said that before Twitter he led product design at Facebook for Stories, News Feed, and Video; spent seven years at Netflix on television and mobile experiences; and received an undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. The archived schedule put him in a closing keynote on April 22, 2021, titled “Turning adversity into impact.” That is conference biography. It is useful for how he and the conference styled the job. It does not lock the SEC-filed title. When Twitter filed on December 3, 2021, the 8-K called him “Design and Research Lead.”

On the same day as the 8-K, multiple outlets reported the reorg and quoted Twitter spokeswoman Rebecca Yagerman. CNBC reported her statement that the August Times report “had no influence on the restructuring,” and that “there wasn’t space in there for” Davis and Montano under the new model. TechCrunch, Fortune, The Verge, and Forbes published same-day reorg coverage; The Verge added that Davis later posted he was “honored to have been part of the journey.” Those are company lines and outlet packaging printed next to the 8-K. They are not depositions. They are not findings that the Times story did or did not cause the exit. Believe the 8-K for the title and dates. Treat the spokeswoman’s sentences as the line they wanted printed.
