- Vice president of design — the New York Times, August 16, 2021, for the 2019 join.
- Chief design officer / head of design — Figma Config 2021, Fast Company, The Verge, The Washington Post, TechCrunch, and other secondaries. Fast Company said he was the first person to hold that CDO title at Twitter.
- Design and Research Lead — Twitter, Inc. Form 8-K, December 3, 2021. Same filing calls Montano “Engineering Lead.”
This file prefers the 8-K for the SEC-filed title at exit. It does not call the magazine title a lie. Companies and conferences style jobs one way; the current report often styles them another. The variance is documented. It is not a secret government rank.
